If you had your entire house painted, can you share ballpark costs? No one will give me an estimate until they see my home and I don’t close for a couple weeks. Trying to get a budget together.
House is about 2,000 sq feet. |
About $10,000 |
I have a 1200 square foot house and was quoted $1200. |
Way too high. At least 1/2 that. Do you need ceilings? Trim? |
No to ceilings. Trim is probably fine as-is. |
This was a couple years ago but we paid ~$3500 for walls and ceilings (no trim/doors) on a 1600sf house. |

$13,000 for us. And it took 3 people about 4 weeks. They painted every inch of our 3500 sq ft house: walls, ceilings, doors, trim (baseboards, intricate crown molding, lots of chair rail moldings) windows (all original wood 1920s windows which are very time consuming), a couple sets of french doors, finished basement and finished attic, interiors of all closets, some interior window shutters. At the time it seemed very expensive but it was a huge project I could have never done myself with small nor would it have looked nearly as good. They had a paint sprayed which they used on the more detailed woodwork to get a very smooth finish. |
PP- also to add, they took ALL hardware off while painting: door knobs and locks, window locks and handles, door hinges, light switch and outlet plates, light fixtures all came down. That alone was a ton of time consuming work considering it is a 1920s house and nothing comes off and goes back on without some struggle and experience. BUT it looks a million times better and truly professional to have it done this way. |
+1 We paid that amount for an apartment of that size. But depends on whether they paint molding, ceilings, etc. For my apartment, they didn't. |
4-5k.
You should do ceilings though. Ceilings make a huge impact. I also hate old trim and door paint too, but I'm a perfectionist. |
Meh. If you have the extra $ great. But if you don't, ceilings don't get much wear and tear. |
So you just need 2 coats of paint on the walls? No trim, doors, ceilings, etc? If so, I would say around 4k like another poster said. |
Thank you all, so helpful |
