Considering St Pius or St Matthews in Bowie for kindergarten. Can anyone tell me more about your experience with these schools?

I’ve heard great things about the preschool. Any insight on the kindergarten program there?

I just put my daughter there this past September for preschool but my neighbor had her daughter there from preschool to kindergarten and she raves! She drives from upper Marlboro for the program. She applied to a top private in DC for 1st grade and got in.

That’s great to hear. I’ve never heard a bad thing about St Matthews. Too bad it only goes through K. I’ve heard mixed reviews about St Pius

We have our second child there now for kindergarten and love it. The program including staff are great. Overall, it’s a nice community. Kids are well prepared for first grade. The big part is getting a spot. The class is small with two teachers.

Private school. We have tried lottery a total of five times between both kids and never been successful. We considered trying for applying for school transfer, but that doesn’t open until April, which is lateif you need to apply to private schools.

We did St. Matthews for preschool and public for K. Our daughter is pulled out for reading as she is reading at a 2nd grade level. So we were very pleased with St. Matthew's teachings, I imagine their K program is great.
