Windows Laptop for work - is Surface ok?

I need for a laptop that will be used only for work purposes. It has to run Windows (everything else I own, including laptops, is Apple). The work involves writing and using statistical software for small data sets. I absolutely need to minimize bloatware.
Would getting one of regular-sized Surfaces meet these requirements? |

| I’m an Econ professor and several of my colleagues have a Surface and use it to run Stata with decent-sized datasets. However, 3/6 have had major issue with their surface (like, having to send it back to Microsoft for weeks and weeks for repair). |
