Looking to tryout for HS this summer - SAM select vs MSI Classic?

Anonymous
My kid is in middle school and wants to be in a position to try for JV when he hits high school (MoCo.) He is currently trying to choose between two teams for this spring, both D1 for age group, one in SAM select and the other in MSI classic. He likes both, different team style and coaching styles, pros and cons on both sides.

We're wondering where the league play will likely be more challenging, SAM or MSI.

We can't do travel because $, and my kid is a solid but not standout player. Mostly he just loves the game and wants to play as much as he can and get as good as he can.

(Should I just try to get him on both teams?)

Thoughts?

Both SAM & MSI Classic are hit or miss in regards to the quality of the coach and players on the team.

My understanding is that MSI Classic league is more competitive based upon what a few parents told me.

I suggest that you take your son to see both of these two teams play during this Spring season. Not only you would be able to see the competition of opponents but you can also see how the coach and players perform during these games.

As a side note, high school soccer in our area is highly competitive. Hence, tell your son that he has to put in adequate time to do skills training by himself as home. Hiring a trainer will cost $$ too.

I don’t recommend being on both teams.

Good luck.
