Overnight parking close to Amtrak Alexandria station

Anonymous
It looks like there is no overnight parking at the Amtrak station in Alexandria. Can anyone confirm that’s true? If true, do you know where a close garage is? Price matters.

How long are you looking to park? How far are you willing to walk? The Amtrak station is basically right behind the King Street station in Old Town Alexandria - parking will be expensive.

You could park further away and take the King St. Trolly, but you would still need to walk some.

Is it necessary that you park? Can you use Uber/Lyft? Can you park somewhere else and take metro?

Park at another metro station that has overnight parking and metro in (or take a bus), or take uber/lyft.

I will have a 2 year old and luggage with me. Uber isn't a great option because of the car seat. And walking a long way isn't a great option because of the 2 year old. Ugh. This is getting too complicated.

Just take an Uber and skip the car seat. It's one ride. Especially if you park kinda not close, then Uber the rest of the way.

Or you have someone drop you off at the station. A friend or your DH.

You can park overnight at the Franconia Springfield station, metro over to King Street.

Yeah, if you're so worried about the car seat can you just have someone drop you off at the station in your car? A neighbor or relative or DH?

This. It's only two stops and the train is pretty empty since FS is the end of the line.

This is a couple years ago but we parked overnight in that gravel lot next to the Amtrak station with no problems. We asked the station manager about it and he said it was fine and as long as there was a spot and we were traveling on Amtrak, feel free to use it.

We did put a copy of our train ticket in the car windshield, because we were more afraid of getting towed than of our car getting broken into, but he also said that wasn't even necessary.

Same with Huntington. There are long term spots in the parking garage there.

Unfortunately the gravel lot is no longer open to public parking, it’s used for city vehicles. The Amtrak website has a link for spot hero. There are pay to park garages not too far from the station that allow overnight parking. https://www.amtrak.com/stations/alx
