There are no holes to screw my tags on in the front of my car

Cover the edges with something not so sharp (edges of a cardboard box, etc) and it'll be fine.

You can get a ticket for improper display of tags if you put it in on your dashboard (especially in DC, which has legions of very efficient meter maids looking to ticket for anything). Just take your car to the dealership and have them install the front bracket. I bought my car in a state that doesn't require front tags, so the bracket wasn't installed. I took it to the dealership and they drilled one on in five minutes, for free.

Yup. I had to have this done as well.
And I got a ticket in DC, at 2 am, for not having removed the old window sticker even though the new one was there too.
