Particularly if you have more than one kid and they are under 3. I am either taking care of them, at work, or trying to get a semi-decent night of sleep (DS2 is 5 months, so I am still waking up several times per night). I am starting to worry I may never see a gym again. |
What time does your DH get home? Is your other one in preschool at all?
Have you looked into gyms that also offer childcare? |
Buy a peloton or some other home fitness equipment. Then your workout time becomes after they fall asleep, naptime, or before they wake up in the morning. |
Hang in there when DS2 have a more set schedule. Where is your partner in the scheme of things? With two kids (2, 4) I usually get up at 430 during the weekdays (twice) to go to gym and 530 during weekends. |
I didn't when I had a 5 month old. You could take a run/walk around with them in a double stroller. |
We have a local studio that has classes that begin after the kids fall asleep, but I am usually exhausted by then. Any tips to make an evening workout more manageable? Do you have a hard time falling asleep afterwards? |
Single mom of three kids. I work from home so go to hot yoga (corepower) 5 days a week - they have flexible classes between 10:30 and 1:30 so I I am always find something I can fit around my work.
On weekends I go before my kids wake up(6:30 am classes), and if I’m traveling for work I go for a run. |
I think that may have to be the plan for now. My husband works out first thing in the morning because he goes to work really early so he can be home to help out in the evening. I think evenings workouts are my only choice, but I am so so tired by the time 8/830 rolls around. |
Wow! This is impressive |
I jog to work a few days per week. I'm lucky to have the option because it wouldn't happen otherwise. |
Yea you just really need to fight the urge to collapse on the couch when that time rolls around. Once you get into the gym, you may feel a bit more energized--that's how it is for me during the 430 workouts after only 5 hours of sleep on some nights. |
I go to classes a couple times a week that begin at 730 or 745 pm. I leave shortly after 7 and my husband handles getting the kids to bed. This started when DC2 was 8 months old and DC1 was 2.5. |
Find a gym with childcare
Do a workout at home while kids asleep/napping Can you do a light workout duringyour lunch break at work - power walk for 30 min, for example? Sign up for a weekend class. |
You will.be tired at first, but you'll get over it and it will become easier. DH works out from 6-7am 4 days a week. It took a few weeks before he wasn't exhausted and grumbling every morning , but now it's totally routine and he wakes up early even if he isn't working out |
I actually sleep better after I work out. Evening workouts are hard, but once I drag myself to our peloton and get on, it's fine. |
