What is the deal with Washington Fertility Center?

I recently had a consultation there. Everyone, including Dr. Asmar, seemed pretty nice and their prices are low compared to the rest of the other clinics. I see there are some negative comments from old posts but I'm wondering if there are any recent experiences that anyone can share. Thanks.

I didn't even realize this place is still open. Their billing department was not good and their lab didn't give me any confidence. They were always doing three-day transfers.

I never heard of this place, but there is nothing inherently wrong with three day transfers. Some women's embryos just don't survive in culture in a lab. I've had much better success with three day transfers than waiting for day 5 and having nothing to transfer.

Never heard of them.

I would check their SART stats, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with a day 3 transfer. This was the reason we moved from Shady Grove to Cornell (and several other reasons, but this was part of it).

You're right. There is nothing wrong with three day transfers but when a center ONLY offers you three-day transfers because they aren't confident in their lab, that's a red flag. A lab can make or break a center. BTW, I had success with a three-day transfer myself.

PP here. My experience is from 8-9 years ago, things could have changed. I just advise you to keep your options open and research this place heavily before forking over any money. Fortunately in the DC area, there are a few good options to choose from, (SGF, CCRM, etc).

OP here.

PP was it only the 3 day transfers that was an issue at the time? Or were there other things that you don't mind sharing.

Sounds like a case of "you get what you pay for"

They quoted me the wrong prices based on my insurance and they also submitted the claims to my insurance company with the wrong information, creating a huge billing nightmare that took months to resolve. They were nice but for all that money you spend, you need more than just a nice staff. Also, sometimes, I had issues with them not answering the phone for hours. Please do a search on here and you'll see what others have had to say.
