how can I get a thread deleted?

Anonymous
I asked a question about a flu concern I had and got nastily slammed, berated and humiliated by a nearly every poster who responded. I would like to delete the thread, and will never post here again.

I am 37 weeks pg and was only concerned about the health of my baby. This is really upsetting.

If you link to the thread or at least provide more information, I can take a look at it and delete if I feel it is appropriate to do so.

Most people are decent human beings, with a bit of troll lurking on their bad days. No matter what the underlying message in the original post, its presentation makes a huge difference in how it is perceived. The post has to be matter-of-fact and under-dramatic to be credible.

If I am thinking of the right thread (I only read the first responses), I think your thoughtless coworker should have made herself more discreet during the 2 weeks it takes for you to build immunity. After that, you are protected as much as it is possible to be against that particular virus, but not the others, so limit contact with any symptomatic persons and wash your face and hands regularly. I apologize if that is not the correct thread.

Much useful information can be gained from reading and posting on these boards - with the probability of getting flamed at some point being 100%

Relax, and many good wishes for the birth.

OP-could you please describe the forum and post you are referring to?

This is the thread that OP was referencing: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/78833.page

She expressed concern that a colleague whose child with h1n1 was thoughtlessly exposing her (the OP) who is 35wks pregnant. In her first post, indicated she had received the vaccine a few weeks prior. Also indicated that she'd thrown out a gift from the colleague due to fear of virus contamination. Also admitted that because she was so busy she hadn't had time to get educated on flu-related facts.

I think she was looking for support that she had done the right thing and had a right to be outraged by colleague's behavior. Unfortunately, many posters instead told her that she had very much over-reacted, especially since she'd already been vaccinated. As a result, she's very upset.

Personally, Jeff, I don't think any reaction she got there was appalling enough to be deleted. Many OPs don't like the responses they get from posters - doesn't mean the thread gets deleted.

Yeah, if that's the thread, I agree with you. Some of the responses could have been gentler, but the basic issue seems to be that the OP was seeking validation which she didn't get.
