No. But at the Open House we were told that, with the exception of 5th grade, the only kids who got accepted to middle school had sibling preference.

They usually offer 1-2 spots for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, but as PP says, these spots almost always go to siblings. There are more spots open again in 9th depending on how many kids leave for high school.

Last year it was 2 spots I think.

Well that's depressing but not surprising.

The entry year is fifth. It is a very small school. Not a shock that virtually no one gets in for 6th.

It’s always equal to the number of kids who leave. Since the class is small (90 kids) and most people like the school, the number of kids who leave is small and also very dependent on the individual circumstances of each class. So I know that this year, a military family left and two kids decided to leave for different schools. That means three spots opened up.

More kids do leave after 8th, so 9th is a better year for entry.

Remember: if we don't get what we want from DCPS we'll all go private or charter! All of us!
