Is 10 to young for a YouTube channel

My 10 year old DD has a YouTube channel She’s posted videos about her Singing and also she talks about how she has ADHD. I have mixed felling about it.

IMO if she just talks about it and post personal information it should be okay?

What’s is amazing is her “singing” video had 20 views in a week and her random videos she has also had about 20 views and only a couple comments. She posted her ADHD video last night and she already had 40 views and 5 comments.

I wouldn’t let my 10 year old. If I did, it would be with the caveat they can’t use their real name, mention their location or show their face. I know that’s not what you’re looking for. Also there can be some mean and inappropriate comments posted so that’s of concern.

My older teen DD has a YouTube channel. She has been very successful. She has over 75k subscribers and a million views and actually makes money. I was shocked. I have very mixed feelings about it but she is following all the safeguards I mentioned above. She creates animated videos.

I mean, yes, too young. No, don’t let your kid do this! fFs.

My son has one, but it is an offshoot of my account, I edit and upload all videos, and will cut the camera if something inappropriate or revealing is said. He has zero independent ability to upload content. He likes to think that it will go viral, but all of his subscribers are his parents friends. If it ever took off, we will reconsider. But it gives him something to do that he’s proud of.

I don’t have an opinion. I’ve done and allowed a lot of things others would not but no one walks in my shoes. However, I did want to say congratulations to your daughter for embracing who she is.

A private account, yes. Public, no.

I would ask myself: does the potential value of having this channel outweigh the potential negatives?

I would not let DS do this. He's 10. But some of his friends do!

No way in hell.

No! What? You sound like an awful wannabe stage mom talking about views. 40 views is not a lot, but I wouldn’t want one random stranger viewing my kid.

No way.
