| This will be for their second and third teams. They’re not pulling out of da or ecnl. |
| CCL North. Yawn. |
Exactly ! |
| It would be great if the DC area top teams do this though. I know it won’t happen but it would be nice anyhow. I’m the mean time, my DD is playing in NCSL cause the drive to games in the other league games (EDP, CCL, etc.) are way too far. |
Isnt that kinda what ncsl is already? A local league? |
| Yes but NCSL is not for the top or near the top teams. |
| Thats exactly what CCL is.... sorry your club isn't a part of it. Join a CCL club! |
|
^^ With all the better "elite" options, CCL has lost its cache. Games in Roanoke, VA Beach, Richmond, etc. to often play teams far worse then local teams? Enjoy.
CCL is not for top teams pal. It is for big clubs. Very uneventful competition team to team and unnecessary driving for little development. |
| I’m in Maryland so driving to VA Beach, Roanoke, etc. will take me 4 hours driving one way. That was the reason why we rejected in joining the Potomac Blue Team as they played in CCL. |
| Sorry but CCL is just so you can be smug and say you’re in CCL |
| Whats better?? At the U9-U11 age?? VPL?? Please don't make me laugh! CCL is the best competition but I agree at U12 you have no choice but DA/ECNL (sorry NCLS AND ODSL) |

On the girls side, EDP is a better league than CCL or NPL. However, it is almost all MD, PA, and NJ team so lots of travel. NoVA has done a poor job in concentrating competition due to all the leagues (ccl, npl, ncsl, odsl). These leagues were formed for benefit of clubs and coaches and not players and competition. Similar to a lot of decisions in youth soccer. US Soccer makes this even worse by perpetuating both USYS and US Club and thereby ECNL and DA and the dual leagues at the state and local levels from there on down. US club should be dissolved and ECNL and DA merged. Therefore one set of regional league for elite of the elite. Then also regional leagues for top next level down teams, then state associations under Usys would regulate leagues in a pecking order within geographic areas. For metro areas like DC, multiple state associations can partner to create local metro leagues.
This would reduce travel and create greater leveling in competition. Tournaments and showcases would be used for traveling distances and playing teams outside your normal area. Clubs banding together to form new leagues so that coaching is more convenient would not be sanctioned by the state level governing bodies. This would allow clubs like Maryland Rush, Bethesda, McLean, byrc, loudoun, fcv, Arlington, SYC, etc. to play their top teams (not ecnl/da) against each other with minimal travel. |

[/quote] The bigger reason why VA and MD can’t get together and form such a league together is because the states support opposite HS soccer seasons. There are enough ECNL teams in the DMV to be easy but HS has to be accounted for. |
This Spring, for U12s NCSL Division 1 is so much stronger than CCL. It's not even close. |
