Best solution to arrange after school activities?

Hi Mommas,

I have two kids both in Daycare (one at toddler class and one at PreK class), and I have signed the older one up for dance school. The classes are mid-afternoon ish. What would be the best option to arrange for pick up and transportation?

Nanny? I posted hiring for a few month and couldn't get anyone because of limited hours (15hr/week).
Au Pair? I can start the process but will take a while to place one and get her a driving permit?
I was able to do it myself for a while (flexibility with my job), however work has really ramped up this winter and I expect to miss 2-3 class/month which is a lot and the artistic training needs to be on a pretty strict schedule.

Welcome more creative ideas and solutions.

Op, no real solutions other than to try and set up a carpool. My kids went through daycare and now are in SACC and have never signed them up for anything that started before 5 pm bc we commute and have jobs. And those time slots are highly coveted so we don't always get them. I feel your pain.

Find a dance class that better fits your schedule. If you can’t find someone to reliably bring her then that’s really your only option.

After a long day at daycare, us your kid going to have the energy to get through a dance class?
Isnt there a weekend class available?

The weekend class offering is for a different age group. Looks like "finding a reliable person" is probably key to this.

See if one of your Dd's friends want to do the dance class with her and keep your fingers crossed the parent would be willing to take that first leg of dropoff at the tech ctr/dance studio

Grandparent / aunt / family member who does not have to have the capacity to watch kid for long period of time but who is retired and can do pick up at daycare, drop at dance, stay in the lobby if needed

Pay an obscene amount of money to find someone reliable for those limited hours.

Quit your job.

Tell your daughter she can't take dance class.

Those are probably your only options.

That’s manipulative. I would never do a class with you again knowing your motivation for asking me was to use me and my kid.

Find a different dance studio with a schedule that suites your needs.

Artistic training on a strict schedule for a pre-K kid? Seems like overkill. Find a class that works with your schedule. At this age, there is no "artistic training", just fun jumping around to music. Which has value, of course, but the tradeoff is just not worth it.

Where are you posting from OP? Kid dance classes around here are a dime a dozen. How can you not find a county rec ctr or dance place that doesn't have evening or weekend classes?

People here do serious sports/academics all the time, why make fun of serious artistic commitment? Finding it hard to respect other's value?

At 4 yrs old? No. Twisting up your life to make an enrichment class happen for a 4 yr old because of the need for consistent "artistic training" or "athletic training" or "academic training" at that age is ridiculous.
