Very Light Period -- Is This a Problem When TTC?

Anonymous
We're TTC #2, and my period is now a lot lighter than it was when we conceived DC #1. It's down to three days -- one solid day of flow, one moderate, and one day of light spotting. That's it.

The cycles are regular, and the ovulation prediction kits say I'm ovulating at the same time each month.

Could the low flow be a sign of problems with implantation? Should I have my hormone levels checked? Is this something you can do at the OB-GYN?

I had the same thing prior to trying for #2 and thought it would be a problem - it wasn't, we conceived on the first try. Good luck!

I was told that light flow doesn't effect whether you'll get pregnant, although for me I think it was an indication of the approach of peri-menupause and reduced ovarian reserve.

Actually, light periods could indicate the presence of uterine adhesions or scar tissue. I know because I am in the process of getting this treated. First, your docs will probably want to check your hormones (just a precautionary step) then they will probably want to run an HSG and maybe a sonohistogram also. Uterine adhesions can't be visualized with a normal ultrasound, so it will be best to try the HSG first. Keep us posted because I have names of physicians (they aren't local) who can help if this is the problem.
