Childs passport expires in March, can dc travel with it in Dec

Does a passport have to be valid for another 6 months in order to be able to travel with it?
I plan to go to a Scandinavian country this Christman/New year. Will I have a problem?
How can I find out for sure?

You may want to call the embassy of the specific country to make sure (in some cases it's different for children as they are dependents), but usually countries require that a passport is valid for 6 months (for entry).
