Rate for Sat/Sun for a 12 year old

I am going out of town early Saturday, returning Sunday night. What should I pay for watching 1 very self-sufficient kid? Is $200 too cheap? $300?

Overnight?

Can she stay with grandma or a friend instead of a sitter?

What about her other parent?

Where are you going?

I'd assume 24 hours x whatever rate, I usually pay $20. Plus $100 for the overnight.

$500 would be cheap.

I think you should just arrange a sleepover.

This does not matter as much as you think it does. The person will still be spending their day at your place and responsible for your kid. It's still their time. $200-$300 is way too cheap.

$350-400, absolutely not $200

The compensation is more about the person giving up those hours to be with your child. I agree that swapping friend sleepover weekends with another family is your best bet. Barring that, you will be paying normal sitter rates. You could consider having the sitter there only part of the time (late afternoon Saturday until Sunday morning?) depending on your kids maturity and your state laws.
