ongoing calf pain

Anonymous
I love to run, but lately I've been plagued by pain in my calves. I've tried everything I can think of and when I read online, it's the same advice. I'm doing NSAIDs, I take days off, I'm running with compression sleeves, but it's not helping. When I take time off, it goes away, but then comes back when I run again.

Anyone have any good advice?

Do you have a foam roller?

ReMag orally.

Magnesium oil spray at area.

Cut off NSAIDS, Take tumeric dissolved in warm water every 3 hours for pain. Works better than painkillers and does not damage the liver. My Indian coworker introduced me to this remedy and on his recommendation I buy the powdered spice from Indian grocery stores now instead of buying the capsules from GNC. The price difference is enormous.

I do. That doesn't help. And I do a bunch of calf stretches before and after too.

Wow! And that works? What mag spray do you use? The tumeric I can easily put my hands on. What type of difference did you notice?

It is probably shin splints.

When was the last time you got new running shoes?

Start running on softer surfaces - trails, the rubber tracks at high schools, the grassy strip between the sidewalk and curb, whatever

It's not. I've had them before. It's on the backs of my calves now. And I have newer shoes with a special gel foot insert. I do look for the right surfaces to run on.

If it’s a dull pain you probably pulled it somehow maybe you ran when your leg muscles were fatigued and calf muscles took the brunt of it. Go to a physical therapist to get some treatments or wait around to heal keep stretching and foam roll. They have these laser treatments for muscle strain PTs can administer not sure what the success rate is but Pro athletes use them.

You dehydrated? I’ve been having the same issue and started drinking a lot more water and eating a banana a day. It really helps.

you could try dry needling with a PT. Or cupping.

I had compartment syndrome that I thought was shin splints for a long time.

Or see a doctor, and stop asking for medical advice from the people here.

Did you change to shoes with a lower heel to toe drop?
