when do docs cancel an IVF cycle?

I'm at SG. At day 5, had low estrogen and 7 small follicles. At day 7, estrogen normal (meds had been adjusted) and 4 normal-sized follicles. In your experience, when do docs normally decide to cancel a cycle?

My cycle was almost cancelled (results on day 5 and 7 were similar to yours). It was touch and go until about day 8, at which point I had more than 4 follicles. I think that at SG 4 follicles is the cut-off for going ahead with IVF. Also, at any point I could have decided to cancel it myself. In the end we ended up with 7 eggs (6 mature). Good luck -- it's pretty stressful and frustrating. But they will learn more for next time (if you need another round, which hopefully you won't!!!)

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'm borderline right now in terms of cancellation - I'll see what the situation is tomorrow when I get my u/s.

I was canceled b/c I had only 4 follicles. SG told me they would have go ahead with IVF if I had a tube blockage or similar, but b/c there was no good reason why IUI would not work, they recommended converting to IUI.

It worked. DS is 2.

I had 3 a SG and was not cancelled- but we already had 4 iui cycles where i only produced 3 and we agreed we'd go ahead no matter what.. DS is 2 now!
