Infertility Support and Discussion
I was wondering how much you paid out of pocket for your meds with Aetna Open Access HMO? Mostly I am interested in the cost of Follistim and Garnirelix. If you know the cost per 600 cartriage that would great!
I did two rounds of IVF a couple of years ago and paid approx. 1500-2200 for meds each time.
About $2000.
I did 2 rounds of IVF with Aetna Open Access and it was around 4k for the meds each time (I was on a high does). I researched the cost extensively and their 50% rate is the same as the going rate for everyone else (they charge double the cost so your 50% is actually the full cost of the meds). I couldn't believe it the first time I ordered them. They told me many people don't get their meds through them because of this. I think it is a real rip off and will not use them again once I can change in open season!
wow--that seems really, really high! did others have the same experience??
If you are talking about the Federal plans and looking for one with good med coverage for IVF - I paid $150 each IVF cycle for all my meds with MD IPA.
I paid about $1800
Paid 2200 my first cycle and 3500 my second with Aetna
|
i paid about 3000 as well with aetna. the benefit of aetna over md ipa is that a cycle doesn start with aetna until retrieval whereas a cycle begins at the first shot with md ipa. although i had 3 full ivf cycles with aetna, i also had two that were cancelled before retrieval and they did not count.
