Can I set up amazon echo for older parent on my account?

My mil is almost 90. She doesn’t have a cell phone or amazon account, but I think she would love a dot in her kitchen for the news, music, timer, weather, etc. we have no plans to use it for phone calls so contact list not an issue. We already have a few at our home. Can I hook up another to her WiFi and just have it as an additional unit on my existing account? Or do they all have to be on the same WiFi?

My mom has one on my account. She is in NY and it works great.
Also since it is on your account you can use the drop in feature. Just give that dot a name like “mom” and then you say “Alexa drop i. on mom”. It will activate her dot and you can speak to each other without using the phone.


The only issue is you can hear what happene in the room for a few seconds while you are waiting for the person to answer. She can also drop in on you which is hardly if they want to chat or need help. As long as the dot can hear them they can contact you.
