Bringing food into Capital One arena

Anonymous
Has anyone brought food into Capital One arena? I see the rules prohibit this but I’m taking the kids to Disney on Ice and my LO has severe food allergies so I need to bring snacks. I know food is sold there but I have to worry about cross contamination so don’t want to risk purchasing something that I can’t see the ingredient list to. Is this going to be an issue to bring in food?

I assume this is like every big venue. They will do a cursory check of your bag. If you have some granola bars or crackers at the bottom of your bag they will not say anything. If you are hauling in a cooler packed with drinks and food, they may not be happy.

Most places cast a gentle eye on kid supplies. I’m unsure if that venue’s vigilance. Bottom of bag is good advice.

I brought 3 fruit bars, a sandwich bag of grapes, a sandwich bag of cheerios, and 2 lollipops. Noone said anything to me. If all else fails, put some tampons on top of the food--noone will want to look more.

It really depends on the individual official checking. But as a general rule at Capital One arena, they're really looking for bombs/weapons/security-related stuff. My friend (with a 4 year old) and I went to a Wiz game once and he was held up at the gate because he had a backpack. Once he told them it was for medical purposes (epipen/medication) they gave him the exception.

I've brought a small meal for my food allergy kid into various places, and they just waive me through after I tell them.

HA! I do this too but with the giant maxi pads I bought for post partum. Trust me no one explores past those suckers.
