This Senate Bill was going to give all process servers trespass immunity. It was swiftly rejected.

The rational for the quick rejection can be seen in the video link below beginning at the 1:36:13. It lasts about 4 minutes.

A process server was charged with trespassing after ignoring a No Trespassing sign and posting papers on the person's door. This was the basis for the bill.

Committee Chairman gave 3 reasons why the bill should die...

1) Process Server would be able to sit on your front porch for as long as they want until the person they are to serve shows up.

2) Process Server would be able to enter gated community and be immune from any liability.

3) Process Server would be able to go to your workplace place and doesn't have to leave until the person to be served shows up.

Committee unanimously voted to not consider the bill again this year.
