CogAt question about "local percentile rank" and "local stanine"

Anonymous
In a recent post, someone reported CogAt scores in a format that included "local percentile rank" and "local stanine" which I gather are measures of how she performed compared to local kids. The CogAt print-out from my child's recent test did not include these measures (it just had "National Age Scores" and raw scores). Is this because she currently attends private school and not FCPS? If so, does anyone know if/how I would go about finding out how her score compares to scores of local test-takers? Thanks.

Yes. It is because she is in private and not FCPS. The only way you would know how it compares is to state the score and see if someone on this forum has a similar score such that they could give you the correlating local percentile.

It's generally a little lower. So if your National was 98th percentile it might be 89th locally. Something like that.

It isn't really an apples to apples comparison, because the FCPS test is specifically developed for the county school system, and not the same as the one administered at say, GMU.

I don't think it is quite that dramatic a difference.

Okay. Thank you for the responses. Her composite score was 120. SHe's a third-grader.

I think it's because she's a third grader. My second graders had the local percentile score but it was blank for my third grader. My second grader had scores of a 97% national which was 91% local, a 92% national which was 82% local and a 94% national which was 84% local.

But on verbal my DD had a 71% national which was a 57% local, so it just depends on the part of the test.

Do you have other tests? This is not going to get your kid into AAP. Especially form a private school where they pretty much ignore the GBRS.
