How long does an early miscarriage usually take?

Anonymous
Was diagnosed with blighted ovum at 8 weeks. Started the miscarrying process a week later. Have been bleeding for a week. Two days were fairly heavy, but not tremendously so, and the rest of the time it's been medium to light. I realize that everyone is probably different, but----When. Will. This. End?

So sorry. I know, after the horrible news getting through the physical repercussions can take some time and just drags the whole miserable thing out.
I also had a blighten ovum at 8 weeks. Nothing was happening though (no bleeding) so I had to take medication (essentially the day after pill) to get things moving. After that, it took just a few days. A friend of mine with the same thing bled for about a week. I'd call your OB and push for some help if you're at the end of your rope. Don't suffer needlessly. If you can avoid a D & C I would recommend that though. Had one of those too with a 2nd miscarriage and it was such an ordeal.
Good luck - hope you can get back to ground zero soon.

I bled heavily for about 1 week with my spontaneous miscarriage.

I'm sorry for your loss. My miscarriage at 8 weeks lasted about 4-5 days.

I hada blighted ovum about 3 years ago. I cannot exactly remember how long it took. Maybe about a week. Just hang in there b/c it might take up to 8 weeks to have your period again. But hopefully eventually all will work out. Just know that what you are going through is very common. Very sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry OP. My sister miscarried at 11 weeks, and hers lasted almost 2 weeks. It was really rough -- heavy bleeding/clots, very bad cramping, chills, nauseau, etc., for a good week, and then a very heavy period for almost a week after. At 8 weeks, I think it is usually shorter, maybe a week or so, but still very hard to deal with. Your OB should be able to give you more insight. My heart goes out to you, and I wish you the best going forward.
