Has anyone had a good AMH and a good FSH, produce a lot of eggs, but when the eggs are fertilized severe fragmentation happens almost immediately?
I’m 39, husband has great sperm, low DNA fragmentation, I respond well to meds, producing 10 to 20 eggs each cycle. But right after fertilization the embryo starts to fragments. We recently went to Shadygrove Chesterbrook to have the embryos videoed. The fragmentation occurs just after fertilization. Then, one cell divides and the other one doesn’t and I guess the entire thing just gets confused. So my question is has that ever happened to you? Has anyone seen improvements in the Co-culturing the embryos? |

We had a lot of fragmentation in our embryos but it started day 2 or 3 and they eventually arrested by day 5, nothing to transfer. Happened in two different IVF cycles on different protocols. Our RE said that fragmentation that early means an egg quality issue, not sperm.
I did some own research on this and it seemed like possibly my eggs lacked appropriate mitochondrial energy to successfully divide. I took massive amounts of coq10-ubiquinol and was able to eventually conceive two healthy children, however I was quite a bit younger. |
| What’s a massive amount of Co q? |
| Is fragmentation the same as degeneration of the embryo right after it’s fertilized? |
| Another + for ubiquinol. 300 mg per day (100 mg 3x per day). I had high drag one cycle and it was due to taking l-arginine as part of a self- prescribed ccrm replacating enhancement. Could there be something you are taking that is messing with your egg quality? |
| I’m taking the theralogix ovarite prenatal. |
I think the CCRM standard (they did a study a number of years ago on it) is 600mg/day. It takes a few months to see any results from it. |

Yes - typical when you're older. FSH/AMH are more about #s than quality. There are definitely things that can improve or diminish egg quality. The ubiquinol mentioned is one of them for improvement. The stim protocol can make a difference (I've read that more menopur diminishes quality). People will probably mention the book It starts with the egg, too, as a source of advice. Some like to point to acupuncture. You can drive yourself nuts with all the suggestions, very few of which have data to back them. I know I did.
Sorry this seems to be an issue for you. I had a similar experience and it was a blow to go from high hopes based on great #s, to things not working due to quality. I hope things turn around for you and work out! |
I should have added that there are lots of posts on here about people not getting blasts, which is the end result of the embryos not growing normally. Those posts may also be helpful to you. |
600 mg/ day (200 mg at each meal; jarrow brand). Actually it was 600 of ubiquinol and my vitamins had an additional 100 mg of ubiquione. |
It takes about 90 days to see improvements as that is the amount of time it takes for an egg to mature and be ready for ovulation. |
