VA Speeding Ticket

Anonymous
I got a speeding ticket the other day in Arlington. Is it worth it to go to court? I don't have any other tickets on my record. I looked at my account and it says I have 5 safe driving points. It is not clear to me if those points counter act demerit points. Does anyone know?

I was going to pay but my friend recommend going to court to plead for no points on your license.

You'll go to having 3 safe points unless it was for reckless, in which case I think you have to go to court anyway.

I'd pay and move on, personally.

Basically instead of starting with zero points, you have +5 points (assume you haven't had any violations in the last 5 years)>

OP here. Yes, I have +5 safety points now. SO I would still be in the positive.

If you are guilty pay the fine and move on.

15 over. 45 in a 30.

I would go to court, if you can find the time. I've had the judge reduce the points, which made it worthwhile to me. Financially, it's still a push -- when you tack on court costs the amount of the ticket was basically about the same.
