Invisible fence or fenceless?

Anonymous
We just moved to a neighborhood where a neighbor's dog lives outside 90% of the time. There is no fence and the dog looks to be some type of retriever/lab mix. How do we know if there is indeed an invisible fence on their property? I have young kids and often feel really uncomfortable on the sidewalk in front of their home. But in any case we are the newcomers here and if no one has had a problem with the dog I do not want to be the first to raise a/n (non) issue?

If the dog is wearing a collar with a plastic box on it, there is likely an invisible fence.

The bark collars look similar, though.

It stays in the yard but often has a tense posture when we walk past no wagging of the tail or rolling on its back. I believe it has a regular collar.

OP, can you cross the street or walk quicker when the dog is out? If you are walking on the dog's side of the street, and/or walking slowly, it can be perceived as antagonizing the dog.

Invisible Fence collars come in different colors, and the "box" on the collars are very hard to differentiate from a regular collar, in most cases. Especially because Invisible Fences are often wired well inside the property (ie: not up to the property line, but further back).
