Suggestions for a 10 day stay at the Caribbeans with toddler

Any good suggestions on which island to choose for a 10 day stay at the Caribbeans with a 2.5 yo in December? We prefer a room only hotel in a quite setting. We are not looking for luxury, just a nice and clean room with kitchenette.

Other than the beach, we would like to explore the area and do some light trekking, and drive around exploring a bit. We are not into snorkeling. We prefer an area that is not 100% tourism. The less the better.

St Kitts or St Martin seem as nice choices, anyone knows if those places fit the above?

We have never been there so any advice is appreciated.

Grand Cayman, and Turks and Caicos would fit the bill. All accomodations on T&C are condotels and include kitchens. Check out VRBO. We have done really well getting deals through the site. We have stayed at three different complexes there and have never been disappointed
