Is it unsafe to leave a dash cam in the car?

Anonymous
I have one tucked behind the rear-view mirror, so it’s not readily noticeable. Still, I don’t want to give people a reason to break into my car.

Anyone always leave their dash cam in the car?

If it matters, i’m in NoVa.

I do. No issues.

I have had a dash cam going on 3 years. I always kinda worried about it (especially because my door locks are shoddy so it's almost impossible to lock all my doors) but it hasn't gotten stolen.

Depends entirely on where you park.

I have a dash cam in both my cars and I never worry about it. Between beinghidden between the mirror and windshield, no one ever looks or notices that spot anyway. No one has ever noticed either of my two cameras.

Still wonder why car manufacturers don’t other them as an option. Best protection ever.

Not really

You don't even know I have one unless you are standing right in front of my car and just staring at my rearview. Now when I drive at night, some drivers will backoff when they see it.

In VA no problem. DC might be iffy.
