Just signed my 3.5 year old for beginner tennis through the county. Is there a good place to buy a racket? Can she just wear leggings and a T-shirt? Are her daily sneakers on to wear? We don’t know if she’ll like it so I dont want to rush and invest money. She doesn’t have any dedicated athletic clothes.
TIA! |

| OP here thank you PP so much!!! |
| Just go to one of the tennis websites and order good shoes in her size on sale....solid tennis shoes are a must. |
For 3 year old tennis? Have you seen 3 year old tennis? They will run a few drilles that involve hopping and jumping and running. They will swing the racquet and try to hit the ball. They will run arund and collect the ball. The kid could wear just about any pair of shoes the parent wants to put her/him in and they would be fine. It is fun to watch but tennis shoes are as necessary for tennis as baseball cleats are for blastball or soccer cleats are for soccer. OP: Put your kid in regular shoes, go to Amazon and find an inexpensive racquet that fits her height. Bring your camera to take some cute pictures and be ready to bouce balls to her while saying bounce then hit. You don’t even need to worry about ducking because they use a light weight ball that doesn’t hurt if you get hit with it. |
Yes. I have seen 3 year old tennis. I have been playing since 4 and I am 42. I meant shoes as running/tennis shoes . You can find decent kid shoes on sale for less than 30 bucks.

| What class/where is this? I'm looking for a tennis class for my 3 year old! |
Any athletic shoes are fine so they don't trip or stub their toes at that age. Any clothes they can run around in is fine. You can also find the pint size tennis rackets at Target usually or amazon - probably 19inches depending on size of your 3yr old (you'll see some charts recommend that 19in size for up to 5yrs old). They will be about the size of a racquetball racquet but made for the tots. |
For a 3 year old—nope! Take it down a notch. |
Yup - pretty much just don't have them wearing flip flops. The standard tot closed toe shoes they wear to the park are just fine. |
