I want to make sure I'm not overlooking any Cap Hill schools that my kid might have a shot at. I think I've got all the ones that he has any chance of getting into below. Am I missing anything?
1) Maury (IB) 2) SWS 3) Miner 4) AppleTree LC 5) AppleTree OK Ave Other schools in the area are the following but my understanding is that they aren't worth listing because no chance. Peabody Brent Ludlow-Taylor JO Wilson Tyler regular Tyler immersion Payne |

Do you mean Appletree Lincoln Park? I would put this above Miner since you will be going to Maury IB anyway at K unless you get into SWS.
If you have a good enough number to get into SWS, you will get into Maury. Consider if SWS is more preferable to you. |
| I think there is a chance at Payne and JO Wilson. Are you concerned about not getting into Maury? If so, that means you will need a school that you can get into with a bad number. How about Langdon? |
Thanks for reply. Yeah, I meant Lincoln Park. I think I actually prefer Miner to AppleTree LC because it is in a larger school, has a nice playground for PKs, is close to home. The staff were really nice at an event I went to. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go to open houses for both. I know everyone loves SWS, but Maury really is my first choice because I want kid to go to neighborhood school and have neighborhood friends. If by fluke he got into SWS but not Maury, I'd still probably be switching him back to Maury at K. |
Cool, I will add Payne and JO Wilson to my list! I think IB kids without siblings have a 10-20% chance at Maury, so I do need some backups. Langdon is too far. AppleTree OK Ave is a stretch for me but I'm including it. |
| Two Rivers PCS at 4th and at Young are two other options to consider. Many Hill families send their kids there. Cap Hill Montessori is another city-wide option, but will be in a swing space for a few years. |
There actually is a chance you could get into SWS but not Maury — if you have an excellent number but Maury PK3 fills up entirely or almost entirely with siblings. (I’m assuming this is your first child). I would add JO, Payne and Tyler regular as places You may have a chance. Also Appletree SW potentially. |
| You're missing Wheatley, Center City Trinidad, Center City Capitol Hill, Friendship Blow-Pierce, Browne, and Friendship Chamberlain. I wouldn't rank any of them higher than the schools you already listed, but adding them could increase your chances of matching somewhere. |

2R Young and 2R 4th if you prefer them to Miner; otherwise, it doesn’t matter. Definitely Payne, JO Wilson and Tyler regular, I know OOBers that got into all 3 this past year.
I chose Miner over AT LP (got into the latter off the waitlist) after touring AT LP. Happy with my choice halfway+ through the year. I wouldn’t list CHML since it’s in swing space in Columbia Heights for the next 2 years. |
| Just FYI you can still make changes up till March 1 even after you hit submit. |
