| Is it a good school??? I can't tell if it has a bad reputation or okay. DD just put it on her list but i thought it was a bad school. Is it? Please give the reputation/what kinds of students go from your DC's schools. Thank you. |
| Not a bad reputation at all. It's a decent state flagship. The only kids I've known go there from our Nova high school were athletes; however, I know a lot of NJ/New Yorkers (specifically Long Islanders) that go there and love it. |
| It has good engineering school. |
Umm why don't you look it up instead of posting a random question like this on DCUM? It is a nice size quasi state university with a beautiful campus in a great location. Some programs are outstanding some less so but it will be a good springboard to wherever your daughter wants to go. Lot of kids from suburban NJ & NY who think they are a lot more sophisticated than they actually are and not a good place to find a boyfriend or husband since the school has always for some reason had way more female students than male students. But when I attended 25 years ago I didn't cross paths with a single student who didn't love it there and almost everyone I know went on to very successful careers. |
So rude. Are you a 12-year old? What exactly do you think this forum is for, except post questions on colleges, random or not? OP the one student I know of from our competitive NOVA high school that went to Delaware was a recruited swimmer, good student and has stayed on the get his masters. I also know someone (from NJ) who graduated 25-30 years ago who went on to a paralegal career. I don't know if she was in the group that thought she was sophisticated or not, but she was a partier. |

Good solid state school. Good value for the money.
I think it has a “bad” reputation among some because the kids who wind up there aren’t the tippy top students and it is nearby. |
This. We've hired several good engineers from Deleware. |
| They have a strong program for studying marine environments/biology. |
