| My MCPS kid's reading level went down substantially from MP1 to MP2, and I asked why and the teacher said she entered the wrong reading level, but said he was actually a higher level than what is on the report card. I'm glad to know my kid isn't doing worse, and the teacher apologized, but didn't mention fixing the error. Will it be difficult for the teacher if I ask her to correct the level in the system, or is it a lot of paperwork to adjust? He's in an early elementary grade, and I know it's not the end of the world, but I'd prefer not to have something listed that's wrong. |
| She can correct it in Gradebook and it will show the right level when Q3 report cards come out. |
She/he needs to also fix it on OASIS or have their SDT or secretary take care of it. If a teacher only fixes a grade in his/her grade book it won't show up as corrected on future report cards. It's a two-step process nowadays. |
| As long as the end of the year one is OK for next year's teacher does it matter? |

I’d inform your teacher that, per your conversation with her, you understand the reading level to be incorrect, and you expect it to be fixed promptly. (This should not take more than a week.)
It could be important later, if you are unhappy with a reading placement in the next year or so. |
While it should be fixed, I don't know if you have to say that you "expect it to be fixed promptly". It's an elementary reading level. Lara isn't getting ready for Yale just yet. MCPS will not print a new report card so as long as it's corrected before the end of this quarter you will be fine. |
Because it’s a simple thing and this is how you write a demand letter. You aren’t giving them a deadline. (That’s why the time is a parenthetical. It’s not part of the suggested text.) Basically, this is an action item that should take the principals office no more than 15 minutes. If it’s not done soon, they are ignoring it. |
This is why we can't have nice things. |
