Sarah Silverman blasts her male doctor on Instagram for fondling her breasts

Wow. Good for her. This sound incredibly uncomfortable. Does this happen a lot to women with male doctors?

Sincerely,

I went to an ENT, who thought he needed to give me a breast exam and ask. Lot of questions about my sex life. For a sinus infection.

Yes, this does happen.

This is why I only go to female doctors.

Eh. I don’t get why she needed to blast it over IG. She even said she didn’t think he was a perv. Women have been pushing for so long for breasts to be viewed as just another normal body part rather than as sex objects, so her doc was likely just treating it like any other body part.

I would have smacked him good first time he put his disgusting fingers on me.
Gross! Probably brags to his friends about fondling boobs all day long.

Um, I assume a nurse was in the room too... So nothing happened.

Hands off, pervert.
And women haven been ‘pushing for so long to make breasts just another body part’.
Just because a couple of women feel this way doesn’t mean that we all do and it doesn’t mean that you can assault women.

DP. Well, something happened. Whether it was an appropriate exam or something creepy seems very much open to interpretation.

Silverman clarifies in the comments that no nurse was present on this visit, or her visit to the same doctor last year.

I feel like we are on the verge of a massive #MeToo moment in the medical community. Many of these doctors are elites in their local communities.

They haven’t? Just the other day I heard women complaining that Adam Levine could show his chest on tv but Janet Jackson couldn’t. Women have also fought for the right to show their breasts in public for breast feeding. There was a whole movement around men showing nipple on IG, but women couldn’t.

It’s a huge stretch to say this incident was assault. Silverman stated that she didn’t think he had nefarious intent. It was likely just a doctor who sees breasts all day long and views them the same way we would an arm or leg.

Not saying doctors don’t ever take advantage, but it doesn’t sound like this was the case here.

Was it a doctor doing her mammogram or a tech?

THIS. Here's a doctor just trying to treat her breasts the way he would her feet, and not make it a big deal, but there's no winning. I get that it was uncomfortable because he was a man, so maybe see a female doctor. Doesn't sound to me like he did anything wrong.

Um... "assault"?? See, this is why no one takes women seriously when there IS ACTUALLY ASSAULT. Stop throwing that term around like it's nothing.
