iMessage not going through

| I’ve been trying to iMessage a friend and it won’t go through. She is traveling internationally so I wonder if she turned off iMessage on her side? Would that impact my ability to send a text to her? |

she likely has her cell data off, and hasn’t hooked up to WiFi.
Why wouldn’t her turning off messaging affect your ability to send a message - or rather, her ability to receive it? Usually it will go through as SMS if she has her data on, so I’d suspect her phone is off or she has turned off all text |

It doesn't always work well when someone is overseas on wifi. Try sending it later when you know she's at her hotel on wifi.
DH and I often compare phones when he returns from overseas and he misses a lot of texts I send. |

| Cribbing from the above answers, I guess she has cellular data turned off or not enabled. If she connects to Wi-Fi the iMessage should work. |
