recommend facial products

I'm 35 and noticing my skin getting "aged" My pores are larger and visible, my skin looks dry sometimes....i wash and moisturize every day and exfoliate once a week. I'm looking for products that don't break the bank to help my skin look better. What do you wash and moisturize with. Do you give yourself home facials? What products do you use? I'm hoping to avoid going to a makeup counter to ask becuase they will just try to sell me everything! I'd rather hear from fellow dcurbanmoms what they use that works!

I like the Philosophy skin care line, OP. I give myself home facials but only the most mild kind. I would go to the Philosophy website and examine their products, they have quite a few...esp. the anti-agers...and they are around $50 to $100 for the full kits.

With the exception of a few of their products (like "help me" and "save me" and their retinol capsules), Philosophy actually isn't a good brand, in my opinion. It's just trendy at the moment.

My advice is to invest in products that have been scientifically proven to actually give results. Because the fact that one mom likes one thing and another mom likes another really means nothing. Lots of people like things that aren't good for them.

I recommend washing with a product that contains glycolic acid. Glycolic acid has been proven to minimize fine lines, even out skin tone, and exfoliate dead skin cells. DermaDoctor, Phillip Thomas Roth, and MD Forte make such products. Next, at night I would apply a glycolic lotion or cream. And finally, I would use a product that contains Retin-A, as it has been proven to increase cell turnover and collagen level and decrease the appearance of fine lines. There are lots of products that contain Retin-A: Differin, Renova, Revage, and others. If you are looking for a product that contains Retin-A along with other ingredients proven to improve your skin tone, I would recommend Tri-Luma.

If you do these things you should not need facials. They are a waste of money and do nothing for you other than to relax you (maybe).

If you have any money left in your budget after purchasing these products, I might splurge on the C8 Peptide Treatment by Kinerase, which I would apply in the morning under a moisturizer. While not proven, there is a sufficient amount of anecdotal evidence that peptides and kinetin can improve your skin that I might spend some money there, if I had any left over.

You won't be disappointed.

I use the Neutrogena Intensives Deep Wrinkle night cream. I'm 36 and had large pores, dark circles and flaky skin. This cream is amazing, it has shrunk my pores, minimized my laugh lines, lightened my dark circles and exfoliated so well my little flakes are gone. It has also almost completely eliminated pimples. I cannot say enough good things about it. A tube costs $20 and it lasts for about six months.

Ever since I use it I don't have to do anything else except a scrub twice a week.

my 60year old mother use the olay regenerist line, and her skin looks much smoother and even after a few months of use.
