It seems like this AAA argument could backfire. Are they really saying that we’re incapable of avoiding hitting pedestrians? If you can’t then just give up your drivers license now. You should not be driving. I’ve driven in NYC where right on red has been banned for a while and it’s not a problem. |

i get there are some intersections where visibility is reduced or its high traffic area wich makes sense to not allow a right on red... but from a traffic management stand point, turning right on red is usually not a problem for those who can drive, turn their head 90* and can estimate traffic flow and the acceleration of their vehicle.

| Being from NYC, I always have to remind myself I'm allowed to turn right on red. It's been drilled into my mind that it's against the law! |
Lots of people do not use their turn signals, are looking at their phones, or otherwise indicate they are not such good drivers. If drivers want to avoid more changes like this (IE more intersections where right on red is banned) they should begin by getting their fellow drivers to obey the law. |
I agree. As much as I’d like to focus on making traffic flow smoother, there are too many “very important people” who screw it up for the rest of us. I’m more worried about pedestrian safety than waiting a few more minutes. |
