Live in DC, but considering Cornell

Anonymous
We live in DC, but are considering going to Cornell for our next IVF cycle. I can't find any information on the website on how they handle the treatment of paitents from outside the NYC area. If anyone would share their experience we'd appreciate it. For instance, how do they handle all of the testing? Do you need to stay in NYC between retrieval and implantation?

TIA

I have not gone to Cornell yet for a cycle, but I am starting to get ready for a January cycle there. If you go to Dr Davis, Cornell has to do a day 2 blood test before your consult. You can either go up there and do it or mail them your blood. His assistant would not let me schedule an appt with him until they either had my day 2 bloodwork or my records (if you are at SG, it takes a couple weeks to get your records). You also need to bring the films from your HSG test. From what I've been told by friends who have gone to Cornell, you can do a bit of initial monitoring in DC and then you go up to NYC. A lot of people stay at a Helmsley hotel across the street, but it is more expensive than what I am looking to spend. I will probably do airbandb or vrbo.com, but I used to live in NYC so I am used to navigating the subway/bus system. My friend said some people stay in NYC between retrieval and transfer and others go back to DC. Hope that helps -- I'm sure others will fill in the details!

I have cycled at Cornell but years ago...I stayed up there the whole time (returned to DC two days after implantation)... I think you can come home in between but I didn't want to stress involved in checking out, coming home, packing back up, etc. Good Luck!!!

I went home between retieval and transfer. My husband came up for retrieval and drove us home. We then drove back day of transfer and left right afterward.
