Willing to drive. Thanks.
Barrie has 1/2 day horseback riding, 1/2 day regular camp option.
What do you mean by “best”? Most time riding, best instructors, non-riding time spent learning about horses, time to do other things, good for a beginner or an experienced rider? There are many good options in the area.

OP here.
For a beginner, with as much horsemanship as possible. She’s besotted with animals and horse riding but I can’t afford year round lessons. |
Woodland Horse Center in northern silver spring has a good horsemanship camp for ages 8 and up, and a Pony Pals camp for kids 5-7. My horse-crazy daughter loves it, and I’m impressed with the instructors (although the facility is not fancy).
How far are you willing to drive? There are several good places in Loudoun.
Safest?
Waredaca.
In Maryland my daughter loved Potomac Horse center. She spent a couple of entire summers there.
Meadowbrook in Chevy Chase.
How do I look up their safety record?

Butler Summer camp (riding in the AM and then swim in pool/activities in the PM). Lots of skills building and the counselors are fantastic!!! Luckily they have air conditioned classrooms (it is a school) to use when the weather and humidity are at 100%. I think every session (which are 3 weeks) they go on one field trip. WE've gone for the past 3 summers and love it!
We're going to try NFF stables this summer. Tho they only have 3 sessions (two 5 day camps and one 6 day camp). We'll let you know how it is... |
Butler Horse riding camp is a complete waste, if you are interested in horse riding. They will do 30 mins of horse riding every day that's all. If you are not looking for horse riding, then i guess it is ok, as they do some other activities too.
