Has the rest of the world caught US Womens Soccer

Watching USWNT games against France and Spain confirmed to me that the rest of the world has caught up. Spain is in its second world cup but the team's skill level is so much better. Spain's footwork/ball control is solid. The US came out more experienced and playing with more confidence and with more athleticism but any other team that has the experience and athleticism will beat the US as France did. USWNT is strong but I don't see how we get by any of the other leading teams.

USWNT will do fine, relax. Our starting 11 don't play as a unit in friendlies, and we should expect mistakes. That's how learning and growth happen. Emily Fox made several mistakes v. France, but she's a good player and will become even better. The quality of play in the women's game, overall, is getting much better though.

The simple answer is, we're about to see.
The rest of the world is certainly improving far faster than we are, and the US is among about four or five teams that has a legitimate shot at the WC.

OP here. I guess my point is that Spain looked very good and the four or five (US, Germany, France, Brazil, Japan) has already expanded to Australia, Canada, China, England, Mexico, and the Netherlands. Spain, Sweden and Korea are the next. By 2023, there will be ten teams with the ability to win it all.

Having other countries be successful is not a bad thing. The US can’t own the best team ever mantle forever. The men’s side is no different in the world. There are a number of countries who challenge one another over time, no single dominant team forever. The US women will remain competitive and it’s ok that they don’t win out every time. They haven’t done so historically, either.

Its good if the world of women's soccer gets better. That will make better players out of everyone. I can't wait for the world cup.

And this is why girls youth coaching in this country continues to suck.

You can't blame the whole thing on Fox. We had issues up and down the field. And let's not forget the recent issues with our U20 and U17 teams.

True, you can probably blame it on many of the regular starters not playing, for example Heath and Rapinoe, and experimentation with other players. Fox was pretty dreadful in that game, though. Hope she can pick it up.

And that’s a great thing right?
