Is it really that bad? the trailer looks good!
with Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Diane Lane. Not exactly a losing group of actors. https://deadline.com/2019/01/matthew-mcconaughey-anne-hathaway-steven-knight-aviron-serenity-controversy-1202545504/ apparently it bombed in the box office, and the stars are blaming the "lack of promotion" of the movie. |

I thought you were talking about the Joss Wheedon movie.
I have never heard of this other thing. |
| I saw it - it was so bad it was funny! Not what they intended I am sure. I had higher expectations and wish I read some of the reviews so I at least could have adjusted my expectations. Good actors - terrible script. Maybe it sounded better in theory when they read it and signed on???? |
Me too! Best movie ever. |
they were on Watch What Happens Live the night before the release, they seemed so excited about it...but if it's truly that bad they had to know. right? |
which movie is this? |
Me too. I'm not particularly into that genre like many people are, but I remember loving that movie. |
The movie is Serenity based off the tv show Firefly. Created by Joss’s Whedon |
But you don’t have to watch the series before seeing the movie. My husband saw the movie first and really loved it even if space cowboys aren’t usually his thing. |
Yes the Wheedon movie starring Nathan Fillion is awesome. |
|
I’m curious how bad movies even get made:
There was a decent script, right? Or no one would have agreed to it? And over the course of months of filming, would there be checks to confirm the story plot was moving along? And in post-production, doesn’t someone watch the movie to make sure it doesn’t suck? How does a sucky movie even get released? |
agreed, you know they knew the movie was awful - instead they're blaming it's "lack of promotion" on why it bombed. |

"Serenity finds new definitions of bad that almost make the damn thing worth watching for its magnificent flameout. Peter Travers Rolling Stone "In Serenity, Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway portray exes who team up to do something bad. It turns out to be this movie." Wesley Morris The NYTimes |
