Moving to Twinbrook Rockville

Anonymous
We are looking to buy a house 2 blocks away from Twinbrook Metro. Any feedbacks? Is it safe there?

It is the best neighborhood for the price point that I know.
1) Short neighborhood walk to metro.
2) A lot of great restaurants and shops at Pike and Rose less than 2 miles away.
4) All kind of retail and service within short distances.
3) More development to come “Twinbrook Quarter “ with Wegmans.
4) Good schools
I think the neighborhood house prices are under valued .

I love Twinbrook.

The neighborhood is safe, and there is an active neighborhood watch. There are plenty of walkers both for exercise and waking to and from Metro. I never felt unsafe.

We loved Twinbrook Elementary, despite any grievances you may read about its Title 1 status.

Twinbrook Community Center is also very nice. If you need chidcare for K-5, look there.

Great sushi at the Green Bamboo right by the Metro.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

I don't live in Twinbrook proper, but a neighborhood over (Manor Woods) and use the Twinbrook metro every day. It is nice that there is pretty much always parking to be had, and I always feel safe walking to/from, even when I return home pretty late. Traffic can get bad on Twinbrook Parkway during rush hour, but otherwise always seems to flow well. I sometime pick up dinner from Green Bamboo and always pleased with what I get.

I am sure it will not be long until somewhat chimes in to tell you that it is unsafe, RM is terrible, the taxes are higher...there seems like there is a disinformation campaign against Rockville on DCUM right now..but it is a great place to live (both Rockville and Twinbrook)

The neighbor association is called Twinbrook Community Association. https://www.twinbrookcommunity.org/

They also have a group on NextDoor - https://nextdoor.com/ (Put your address in when you sign up and it will direct you to the group)

And Twinbrook Village Group. Join their mailing list or find out more: twinbrookvillage@gmail.com

The RM is terrible school - check. Current school rating 5.
The taxes are higher - much higher in Rockville then everywhere else pretty much. check.
It is unsafe - Twinbrook is in the middle of very densely populated area. That speaks for itself. check.

Safe is really a matter of perspective. Twinbrook is much safer than Wheaton, Silver Spring, Germantown, or most of Gaithersburg but it is much less safe than Potomac or areas of Rockville west of Rockville Pike.

I grew up in Twinbrook and I am awesome so ... go for it!

We also live in Manor Woods like the previous pp but am familiar with Twinbrook (our DC attends pre school in the neighborhood, we do ballet at the Rockcrest Ballet Center, DH works off Twinbrook Parkway, a colleague just bought a house off Viers Mill). I would definitely considering living in the area. You really can't beat the access to metro, shopping, etc and get a SFH at that price. Good luck!

That's a ripoff when you can get a single family home for less.

You must be kidding.
These Winchester THs are near Twinbrook Metro but are zoned for the Walter Johnson HS cluster.
Show me a SFH in that cluster for $700k or less.
Plus you are talking about a walkable area; 5 min from Metro and Shopping, including Pike & Rose.
