What time do you have to get up in the AM for the dog (after initial house breaking phase is over)

What time can you sleep until if you have a dog?>
Considering getting a dog - I usually sleep till around 7. Will I have to get up a lot earlier than that? Thanks! |

| I got a mellow rescue who would rather sleep than play. Weekdays, I have to wake her up for our morning walk. Weekends, we sleep until 8:30 typically and go outside to tinkle then. She'll wake us up around 9 if we sleep late for some reason. But, she's really mellow and not the standard. |

I've had LOTS of dogs and that should be just fine. As an extra insurance, you could take the dog out around 11:00 for a late night wee. |

| I've had my rescue since he was two. When I first got him he would wake me up around 2am. After a couple weeks he was content to get up when I do about six. He's 13 now. |

| It really depends on the dog. Our old dog would start moaning at 6:30am on Saturday and Sunday, so there was no way of sleeping late. (I often thought about how our teen was finally sleeping late on weekends and now the dog has to wake us up.) But our current dog stays in bed as long as we do. Also I would say the moaning dog only started doing that as she got older so we had a good many years of sleeping late on weekends. |

| Mine would sleep in past noon if I let him. Even as a puppy, he could hold it well. He is a high energy giant 5 year old now. |

| I think it depends on the dog...but I will also say we have two kids and so we've never slept late enough that the dog has been the one to wake us up. |

| Mine is 12. She goes out at night between 8 and 9 and then again between 8-8:30 for pee only. |

The problem is my husband. He wakes up at 6am and riles up the dog, waking me up. We’ve already words. |

| We have had 5 between the two of us and all get a walk around 11pm before bed and NONE have woken us up, rather we wake them up. 7am on weekdays and 10-noon on weekends. Helps if they sleep in bed with you ? |

My dog sometimes sleeps in the bed, and when she does not, there is a 50/50 chance she will realize in the morning that the cat is on the bed, and get jealous and bark. She doesn't bark to go outside. I get up at 6:15 and we go outside for her business and come right back in. She is tiny and only would be able to do one walk per day, so in nice weather we do that at night. Cold/ rain/ snow... no walk. She won't go.
Anyway, it depends on the dog you get, what they are accustomed to, and how much you both can adapt. |

| On work days mine go out at 5. On days i am off they are not allowed to wake up my kid and as they barrel down the stairs like lunatics they have to stay on the bed until she gets up which is between 7-730. As soon ad they hear her door open they shoot off the bed though. On weekends i let them out, feed them, then get back in bed for an hour. |

| The dog usually wakes me up around 6:30 but she's content to take herself out to the pee pad on the balcony if she needs, and then come back to cuddle for a while before we get up. I get up at 7, feed her, shower and get dressed, then walk her, then go to work. |

| We have two dogs. One needs to be woken up unless he didn’t go out late then night before. The other is a 1 year old and she’ll take the first opportunity to go out. If I turn over in bed at 4am, she thinks it’s time to start the day and lick my face until I take her (they are both in our bed). |
