'It Was the Darkest Time in My Life' She was raped when she was a Sophomore in Virginia. The story gave me chills. |
|
"...The Miss USA runner-up, 23, was a college sophomore in Virginia when a group of male acquaintances at a party allegedly drugged her wine glass, as well as the drinks of two of her friends. The next thing Miller-Keyes knew, “I woke up the next morning and I was completely naked in my bed and I knew that something bad had happened,” she says.
A girlfriend at the get-together, who had not been drugged, alleged that one of the men had had sex with her while she was lying unconscious in the bed. In addition, before the alleged assault, Miller-Keyes says that a friend alleged that “another guy, I was passed out on a couch from the drugs, and … in front of his fraternity brothers … lifted up my dress, they watched and laughed and took photos and Snapchats. It was horrible,” she told Underwood on The Bachelor...." I am shocked. |
| It’s so sad that there are people out there who don’t value a woman as an individual but instead just view her as a sex you. Completely gross people. |
|
| Anyone know what college this is? UVA? |
VCU |
| Sounds like there was photos and video, why is this all flimsy evidence |
|
It’s shocking and maddening that nothing happened to these guys, especially if two of her girlfriends were also drugged.
But I admire her for sharing her story; she’s a brave person and hopefully she’ll help others. |
Look at what happens when victims come forward. |

What is horrible, and what we need to tell our daughters about, is that she was turned away from a hospital when she requested a rape kit. They said they needed a police report FIRST. I don't know but still call bullshit. Kit first, then report even if days later.
I guess we have to have our children memorize their local rape crisis center. Here is the national number; 800.656.HOPE (4673) |
I agree. Plus you have a witness - the girlfriend who was not drugged and saw it all happen. It is amazing that the gf did not think to call the cops or make the men stop. I am sure that the photos and videos still exist somewhere. Seriously, if it was my daughter those guys would have been hunted down by now. |
That's a very macho attitude but ignores the fact the many or maybe most girls don't tell their parents when something like this happens, especially because the girls may not want to admit to drinking to their parents. |

It happens a lot, happened to me. in VA.
It turns into a stigma unfortunately.. no one ever looked at me the same if I told them, so I stopped telling. |
| This was also her platform for Ms America (or USA, whichever one she was runner up in, I can’t kee pageants straight). Definitely wasn’t a secret before now. |
I wish she had called out the hospital. Just call them out. It’s absurd, absolutely absurd. |
