Best iPhone case for an iPhone 8 - Otterbox vs Speck?

Anonymous
I just got a new iPhone 8, after my old phone shattered. I like a clear case. I was going to get either the Otterbox Symmtery or the Speck clear case, but surprised at all the bad reviews for both on Amazon. Does anyone recommend either of these, or a super-solid and drop-tested other case? Thanks.

I've gone through a bunch of cases for my iphone 8. I need a case that has room for a magnet to use with my wallet and dashboard mount.

I've finally settled upon this one. It's super tough, without being too bulky. I can fit it into my back pocket easily. The raised edge protects the screen. They offer it in a bunch of colors.

I've dropped my iPhone everywhere - my kitchen floor, the driveway, the concrete floor of our workout room - and my clear Otterbox Symmetry has always protected it. My DH and DD also use Otterbox cases (they both have the Commuter), and we've never had a cracked screen even the one time the case itself cracked (on my old Android phone).

My sister had a clear Speck Presidio on her iPhone the last time I visited her. She dropped the phone on her kitchen floor and the screen completely shattered.

I have used a speck candy shell case for years and it has done an amazing job protecting my various phones. I also like that it isn't huge

Love my Speck. It’s all I’ll buy.

Don't buy things like that on Amazon. It's probably going to be a knock-off, hence the poor reviews. Just go into a brick and morter store for it. Best Buy, Staples, a Verizon store, some place like that.

That said, I just ordered a case from Casetify.com They are very pretty!

Speck, hands down.

Otterbox is overpriced and too bulky.

You like getting fake products off of Amazon instead? Have at it.

You’re a bad shopper if you manage to get a fake case from amazon. Paying Verizon store, etc. prices is stupid.

And it’s mortar. Not morter.

I have dropped my various iPhones many times is Speck candyshell cases, including face down on the garage floor, and never had a screen break. I am pretty loyal to Speck as a result.

I am on Speck’s email list and they do go sales every so often, though that’s not so helpful if you need a case now. I have seen Speck cases regularly at Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx and elsewhere at a discount and I would look there 1st if you are willing to sacrifice color choice for price.
