| Is there a specific area that is already known? Are there a plans for a new elementary as well? |
The site is at Fields Road and Omega Drive. Funding to start the planning is supposed to come this year. If you're interested, contact your county councilmembers to tell them that the money for this must be in the CIP. |

He.?
No such intersection. |
There aren't plans for a new ES in the Crown area itself, but there will be Gaithersburg ES #8, scheduled to open in 2022, which is to relieve overcrowding at Rosemont and 4 other area ESs. |
Uh, yes there is. There's a huge plot of vacant land there. |
|
????
Frederic road is 355, Omefa dr is separated from 355 by 270. No way.Look at the map. |
Please read carefully. Fields Road. |
|
Ouuuuu you are right.
So is this the area within the crown farm or across the street? They were supposed to build more homes in Crown there on thar field but it died down and nothing is happening and the only growth there is grass. |
| The high school site is 33 acres, on the south side of Fields Road and west side of Omega Drive. |
| When is it supposed to open? |
TBD. From the MCPS Capital Improvements Plan: Expenditures are programmed in the six-year period to open a new high school on the Crown Farm site to address overutilization in the mid-county region. Although an FY 2019 appropriation for planning was recommended by the Board of Education for this new school, the County Council delayed the funds by one year to begin in FY 2020. An FY 2020 appropriation is recommended for planning to begin the architectural design for the project. Once the planning is complete, a recommendation will be included in the next full CIP regarding the phasing and completion date for the opening of this new high school. |
No, they weren't. That field thar has been the high school site from the beginning. |
Ugh..the maps and plans are all public and searchable online...I am hesitant to find out who is asking these questions, as the answer may make me even more concerned. |
Here is the site plan. You can see the future school site on the eastern end of the property. https://smarturbanliving.com/siteplan/ |
This is going to be delayed again. There is no money for the operational debt service costs. If the county doesn't turn its financial problems around it will never happen or happen after extreme budget cuts to MCPS operating budget. The county already a problem with the debt service costs compared to lower revenue trends. All indicators point at this getting worse. Woodward is going to be a real problem and will be the last school built until there can be massive re-allocation out of the MCPS budget to cover their operating debt for new schools. Combine this problem with the massive amount of deferred maintenance that MCPS has been piling up and Crown will be 20 years down the road if it ever gets built. |
