Hilaria Baldwin - At it again

I feel like her most is something a FTM would do, by your 5th or 6th kid I'd think you'd realize this is old hat by now, not be phased by it and not even think it picture worthy.

One would think if she were truly fluent she'd have done some interviews or podcasts or something in Spanish. I suspect she can't speak at a very sophisticated level.

That's my sense too. I also speak fluently but am not a native speaker. Her accent sounds great, but I can also sound like that for short conversations. If I have longer ones, my accent starts to slip or grammatical mistakes creep in.

My neighbor is from Madrid, and I played a clip of her speaking and she said no way. She said if she had to guess it would be Mexican. Which basically means she learned a 2nd language in the US, like a lot of people do. If you speak English with a spanish accent, it means spanish is your first language. And we all know that didn't happen. Remember that clip somebody posted of her doing a cooking segment on TV where she said she couldn't remember the english word for "cucumber"? That is some next level crazy right there.

I can't believe she took this lie so far as to name her kids (all blonde and blue eyed) spanish names. That is WILD and extremely messed up.

I don't know. This sounds very Spain-Spanish to me, with the lisp:

same with this one (she speaks longer): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I_kujj45lc

A lot of the other videos with her on Spanish-language media are dubbed bc she was speaking English.

Nope. This was the clip I played for my neighbor. That is definitely not an accent from anywhere in Spain. I played it for my mom too, who is from Panama, and she said the same thing. People in Spain have a very different accent than other hispanic countries.

Also, hello, English is her first language. I don't care how many times she "vacationed" in Spain (which was apparently none) you wouldn't have a spanish accent when you speak english. I unfortunately had to spend lot of summers in Panama with my mom's family, and I didn't come back one summer speaking with a Panamanian accent for the rest of my life. That ain't how it works.

To the person saying Hillary's grandparents are from Spain, and her parents have some ties to Spain, the first 2 minutes of this video of her mom speaking tells you everything you need to know.

How about get a life? Obsessed much? Please find a hobby. Collecting stamps perhaps?

Stalking is not a hobby.

This also made me lol!

Isn’t Bay Path University on the Spanish coast?

Thanks to that video, one can learn the names of, and then google, her maternal grandparents. It's also easy to find her paternal grandparents if you google her original name. In sum, Hilaria Baldwin has no Spanish/Latin ancestry whatsoever - she is 100% white American, with her parents and all four grandparents born/raised in the US. So, while she could have become fluent in Spanish through trips there, there's absolutely no explanation for her Spanish lilt while speaking English. She also appears to have been raised as "Hillary" and to have spelled her name that way at least through 2006.

It does appear that her brother married someone Spanish and now lives in Spain, her father learned to speak Spanish as a child, and her parents do now live in Mallorca, but this should not cause her to be surprised that her children turned out blonde and blue eyed! She is a WASP and Alec Baldwin is Irish.

Not sure how 40 Spanish relatives came to her wedding, either. That is another mystery.

It's also highly unlikely that she is a Spanish citizen, as you have to live in Spain for a number of years, be born in Spain, or be a child of a Spaniard or married to a Spaniard to gain citizenship.

In sum, I think I have established the facts of the case to my satisfaction, and maybe I can now leave this thread. But it's a hell of a lot more enjoyable than reading about the election...

Can you please explain further?
I know who Hilaria is but I've never followed her (I clicked on the post because seeing the title in Recent Comments intrigued me) but I don't have the time to scan through 60+ pages, lol.

Is she not really Spanish?

Read the post above yours. Good explanation.

Hilaria, don't worry. You are VERY pretty! Great body for five kids, too (and personally I say, have however many kids you want to! Your body = your choice!).

The problem is, you have appropriated an identity (as a native-born Española/Latina) that you clearly do not actually have. You are an American who was raised by English-speaking American parents largely in the United States, with regular vacations to Spain.

Dude, we have zero proof she ever even visited Spain growing up. Her mom was beginning her career as a doctor and her dad was a busy lawyer. They have no family in Spain. If they ever "vacationed" there it was probably once. That's like an 18+ hour flight. Mallorca is an island. You can't just fly directly from Laguardia to Mallorca's airport.

True. But she did learn some pretty authentic-sounding Spanish somewhere. I only hear her speaking for a bit on a video but it sounded convincingly Spanish (from Spain). I’d be curious to know if she could sustain her Spanish for a longer conversation...I’ve only seen short clips.

She did vacation in Mallorca as a kid (every summer+); her family had a house there (her grandparents also lived there when she was younger), which her parents have now retired to. Her brother also lives there. She speaks Spanish fluently. None of this is to defend her. It is super creepy that she pretends to be Spanish when she is not, but she does have actual links to the country.

No, her brother doesn’t live there.

Her brother married someone (actually) Spanish and lives in Spain now.
