Body rash No Fever

Anonymous
My son woke up this morning covered in a body rash. I'm waiting for the Dr. to open in 15 minutes so I can call him. But I'm going crazy trying to figure it out. No fever, playful, normal behavior except for this rash. His younger sister has a the same looking rash in her face last week but it went a way after a day. So I thought it must have been oil or something that touched her skin. Went to the park yesterday and then it slowly started to surface. I hope its nothing serious!

Maybe Sixth disease? Did rash start on trunk and move up? Did a fever preceed the rash by a few days?

no fever no itching no flu symptoms. Dr says to bring him in the morning. Web MD says rashes like this usually go away in a day or two, just the body trying to kick something out. I did look up the 5ths disease, the rash started out on his face (cheeks) now it looks like it is surfacing on his extremeties. Scary! It looks like the rash he and I had when we took penecillin and discovered an allergy. But he hasn't been on any penecillin.

could be roseola...the fever starts out a day or two after the rash appears.

re roseola: i thought it was the other way around?

Is it just hives? That does not have fever. Our son has had hives a few time, it goes away after a few (3-7) days.

Our son had hives off and on for a MONTH, and we (and the ped) never figured out the trigger. He wasn't itchy or feverish or otherwise uncomfortable, but it was still maddening not knowing what it was!

My dd had roseola when she was 2.5. it was preceded by a really high fever about 3-5 days before. then she broke out into a non raised full body rash. Freaked me out but faded after 2 days. It's caused by a virus so no real treatment.

PPs did you have to give your kids antibiotics or did it clear up on its own?

OP, is your son ok?

Maybe an allergy? My daughter ate cranberries last week for the first time. The next day she woke up with a rash on her face -- then the next day a rash on her body -- then the next day all signs of a rash was gone. We figured out that it must be the cranberries.
