When to test after FET

Anonymous
I had an FET this morning. I dont have to worry about a false positive from a trigger shot so when can I expect to see a reliable result with an HPT?

My previous day5 transfers have resulted in either BFNs or a chemical that did not register on a HPT. I have since had an ERA that showed I was pre-receptive so I am slightly more hopeful this go around.

My one pregnancy was from a day3 fresh transfer. That time I got a BFN on a home test one week after the transfer and positive beta 13 days after the transfer. My sense is that positive came somewhat late in the window and I kind of think it worked bc putting the embryo in day 3 allowed it to develop into a blast and implant on my body's own schedule (which the ERA showed is slow/late).

Given all this when should start to test?

From what I’ve seen on reddit, you might get a positive on a sensitive test as early as 4 days post transfer, but a test (even a sensitive one) may not be a true negative even at 7 days past transfer. A negative at 8 days past transfer is almost certainly a true negative, barring a very low and slow chemical or ectopic.

Good luck!

You can start testing as early as day 4, but day 5/6/7 and later should give you more accurate results. Wish you good luck!

NP. This was my experience. Strong positive 7dp5dt for my one successful pregnancy. Weak positive 11dp5dt for the one that was ectopic. I was with SG, so betas weren’t done until 14dp5dt for either one.

For my true positive, it was faint about 6 days after the FET and got darker. I did my first beta at 2 weeks, in the 200s.

For my chemical, it was faint at 5 days and got darker for a couple days before fading. I had a beta a 7 days - it was 27, but back at 0 by 2 weeks.

There are tests that will detect low levels - amazon has strip tests that are very cheap and just as good as First Response (just without all the plastic). There is also tons on this online, complete with pics of the test strips. Don't torture yourself - even if you get a positive early, you still need the betas to be sure. I still would test, but more for expectation setting rather than for feeling that it's a sure thing.

4 days with a First Response Early Result. Get a 3-pack and test once a day thereafter. Following the FRER, get Clinic Guard (internet cheapies on Amazon) to test every day until your beta (or longer). Good luck!

Thanks all for the feedback. Actually this AM i ordered a 25-pack of the Wondfo tests on Amazon. I have used them before and seen good comments about them on this cite. I got an early response test that is supposedly sensitive to 10mIU of HCG

Actually a happy update. My beta was 176 yesterday. My clinic does not do betas over the weekend so I have to wait until Monday for repeat.

I ended up not testing in the key window bc I get so bummed out by negative tests. I tested 3 days after the transfer to set baseline and get the "testing bug" out of my system. Then I tested yesterday AM (after the draw) and today. Today's test is darker than yesterday so I am encouraged by that.

I am having an FET on 12/1 and I did take a trigger shot in 11/24 because of the protocol. In all of my failed IUIs the most stressful part was waiting for the doctors call and handling bad news. When I did my first FET (no trigger shot) I tested at home on day 10 and got a BFN. As much as it broke my heart I was glad to have the advance disappointment instead of reacting on a phone call.

Since I had a trigger shot for this FET, is it a bad idea to do a home test? I don’t think I could handle a false positive and then have my hopes dashed. But I’d love to reclaim some agency and be able to test at home before the beta.

Thanks for your guidance (even if the guidance is to suck it up and endure the TWW and phone call!)

I would test on the morning of your beta. Good luck.
