Cinderella at Kennedy Center -- anyone gone to it?

DW got our family tickets a while ago, so we're going tomorrow. Now I look at it, and it's nearly 3 hours including intermissions. Is this intended for children? Our girls are 4 and 6. They like live performances and dancing, but I wonder if we'll just slip out after the second intermission.

Got great reviews but it’s not meant for children. It’s adapted to take place during WW2 - this is not Disney.

It’s also all dance - no singing or dialogue.

True. Look at Bourne's swan lake as an example. It's not for children. https://bachtrack.com/review-cinderella-matthew-bourne-new-adventures-sadlers-wells-london-december-2017

Have you seen the movie trailer for Upside where Kevin Hart asks Bryan Cranston how long the opera is? That’s exactly everyone’s reaction when you find out you have tickets to a WW2 setting, all dance, adult Cinderella with your 4 & 6 yr olds.

Yeah, a Matthew Bourne Cinderella is definitely not for children.

Taking my 11 yo daughter on Sunday. I thought it seemed good for her but would love to hear from anyone who has seen.

Seems like bad advertising on behalf of KenCen if they didn't note any suggested age range.

I literally just got this ad from the Kennedy Center promoting Cinderella, and this was one of the reviews they included:

Watching the felled victims dance back to life took my breath away, as did Cinderella’s tender one-night stand, justified by the world crashing down around the lovers’ ears.”
—The Washington Post

Cinderella has a ONE NIGHT STAND?

And here is another snippet from the KC email:

The reviews are in: Matthew Bourne's Cinderella is "STUNNING. Dark but deeply interesting and affecting" (Washington Post). Must close Sunday, so don't miss out!

Dark but deeply interesting...

maybe you could get Disney on Ice tix for another weekend, OP?

Also, don't forget the "felled victims" part. I assume battle scenes/guns?

It’s Matthew Bourne people.

OP here. This seems like a bit much for a 4 year old, especially one prone to nightmares. I think we'll keep one foot out the door and be ready to head to the lobby at a moment's notice.

I wonder how much DW paid for these tickets.... ugh.

You should just sell these tickets and do something else.

For tomorrow, looks like it's only 70% full on the main level, and 40% full in the nosebleed seats. Not sure who will buy on the secondary market.
